Charity Quiz Evening

Perrin Ag Quiz Event raises $3738 for BOP Rural Support Trust

Perrin Ag Consultants hosted a Charity Quiz Night 29th September to fundraise $3,738 for Bay of Plenty Rural Support Trust.

Bay of Plenty Rural Support Trust was formed in 2004 when farms were hit by severe floods. Rural Support Trust is a charitable trust for rural people and their families as they respond to and recover from adverse events like a drought or flood, economic or environmental challenges which affects farmers' livelihoods.

In the end 17 teams of farmers and rural professionals battled it out for "The Smartest Team in Town" award at Hennessey's Irish Bar. Rural Support Trust Facilitator, Malcolm Fluker attended the Quiz Event and shared the Rural Support Trust story.

Lee Matheson, Perrin Ag Managing Director, delivered eight rounds of challenging questions as quiz master for the event while local auctioneer Phil Hereford sold off members of the Perrin Ag team as Experts for Technical Rounds. Many businesses donated prizes or auction items including a $700 tool box, half tonne of fertiliser, coffee machine, restaurant vouchers and much more.

Anika Sandford, Perrin Ag Consultants Office Manager said the team was wrapped with the success of the event. "For our annual fundraiser, we decided Rural Support Trust would be a worthy cause to promote and fundraise for. It was incredible to see over 100 people turn up to support the event and the generosity of businesses who donated prizes and items for auction."

The Perrin Ag team also took part in the Rotorua Ekiden Relay around Lake Rotorua on Saturday 7th October to raise awareness for Rural Support Trust, with Lee Matheson agreeing to run his leg of the race in a milk maid costume for $250 to raise a bit extra for Rural Support.
